State Grant Opportunities

This page has opportunities that are available through your State Departments of Education or other State agencies.  These opportunities may be federal flow-through funds or state-legislated programs.  Note that the listings on the page are not comprehensive!  You should follow the links to your State Education Agency (SEA) to review available grant opportunities.

If you know of opportunities that you do not find listed here, please share that information with me so I can list it on the site.  It is through open sharing that the most kids in the most schools are helped.
The links below will take you to the grants pages of state Department of Education web sites, if available. In some cases, this page contains information about state grant opportunities.  As time allows, this page will be expanded include more information.

Nebraska
Nebraska State Department of Education wrote that the State does not have a single link which captures all the grant programs.  Their grant funds are available only to public school districts in Nebraska and announcements are communicated by mail and e-mail to district administrators and appropriate program specialists.

North Carolina
The following note was received from your State Department of Education:

"We do not currently have one page that lists grant opportunities.  There are some grants that can be found through the Index to our site (a new redesigned site is forthcoming, with a better index).  Additionally, notices of grant opportunities are often broadcast through one or more of the electronic newsletter we operate. (http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/newsletters.html)"
If you know of NC opportunities, please send a note with the URL or other information about the opportunity and it will be posted here.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Champions of the Environment
Champions of the Environment is sponsored by DuPont, International Paper, DHEC and WIS-TV.  The goal of Champions of the Environment is to promote environmental education activities throughout the State of South Carolina.  The program is open to all of South Carolina’s K-12 teachers and students. Eligible environmental projects can be individual or a group of any size, and may or may not be associated with school activities. South Carolina's K-12 students and teachers involved in environmental education activities outside of school are also encouraged to apply (4-H members, home-schoolers, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.)  Projects or programs that help the environment and increase environmental knowledge and awareness in your community that require funding outside of your normal resources, are eligible to apply.  Grants of $500 will help support the purchase of materials and equipment associated with your project.  Student grant recipients who have developed their environmental activities independently may choose to use their award for future educational expenses.

Awards are made monthly.  Proposals received by the 25th of the month are eligible for the next month's award. Applications not selected will be held over for the duration of the school year and will automatically be considered for a grant award in subsequent months. There is no need to reapply.
